The RSB-3720 and EPC-R3720 offer a highly integrated service with UIO40-Express, application-oriented modular I/O expansion boards, and AIM-Linux for vision AI applications.

The Superior Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine Powers Image Processing

Solutions based on the Advantech i.MX 8M Plus (ROM-5722, RSB-3720, and EPC-R3720) are equipped with up to four-core Cortex-A53 processors running at 1.8 GHz, supported by a Cortex-M7 coprocessor for real-time task management. This is further accelerated by two image signal processors (ISPs) and a dedicated neural network processor (NPU) with up to 2.3 TOPS. This combination delivers powerful image inference and AI capabilities while consuming less power than calculations performed solely by the CPU cores. These features enable the platform to perform AI applications such as object detection, recognition, classification, and position estimation. AIM-Linux integrate many types of application plugins and edge AI inference engines/libraries, primarily based on the NXP® eIQ™ toolkit. For a quick and easy start, Python-based demo programs enhance AI inference using mainstream inference engines—including Arm® NN, TensorFlow™ Lite, and ONNX.

Advantech has developed AI models focused on manufacturing processes that run on our EPC-R3720 Edge Vision AI system. These increase efficiency by helping to calculate and monitor line productivity and improve safety.

Flexible I/O Facilitates Application Development

AI edge applications, such as facial recognition and product assembly optimization, require high-performance camera inputs. The ROM-5722, RSB-3720, and EPC-R3720 provide two MIPI-CSI camera inputs for connection to two built-in ISPs, enabling intelligent vision-based systems . These solutions support multiple displays via 4Kp30 HDMI, a dual-channel LVDS (configurable as two single-channel LVDS), and a 4-line MIPI-DSI. They also provide the necessary I/O for advanced network connectivity and peripheral connections, such as two GbE LANs. Expansions for WLAN and WWAN are available.

The RSB-3720 features a UIO40-Express for connecting to dedicated I/O expansion cards. Developers can easily select I/O expansion cards to add more serial ports (RS-232, RS-485), isolated DI/DO, USB 2.0, and a four-port GbE Ethernet hub. Furthermore, AIM-Linux includes an embedded Linux BSP based on the Long Term Support (LTS) version and peripheral drivers for various software requirements.

Ubiquitous Deployment Offers Adaptability and Manageability.
Advantech's RSB-3720 , EPC-R3720 , and ROM-5722 models are suitable for applications in a wide variety of environments, as they support broad operating temperatures and high vibration resistance (-40 ~ 85 ºC/-40 ~ 185 ºF; 3.5 Grms for the board and 3.5 Grms for the enclosure, respectively). Advantech's WISE-DeviceOn provides quick and easy setup for multiple IoT device solutions. It offers real-time device management, over-the-air firmware maintenance, fault analysis, and operational efficiency optimization—all on the same panel for comprehensive device control.
